2023 Minnesota Mock Meet

The club's first gymnastics meet of the year was on December 9th at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. We departed from Madison Friday night and returned Sunday afternoon. Saturday consisted of competition, a team dinner, and team bonding!

Since this was a mock meet, it was not judged and was simply a great opportunity for new gymnasts to get used to performing routines and for experienced gymnasts to get back into the competitive mindset.

Tyler "Debut Dynamo" Thompson

Mock Meet 2023 hosted by Minnesota went amazingly for our club! There was great energy throughout the entire competition, and it was an awesome way to begin our season. There were 32 participants competing, and we had 11 gymnasts compete in at least one MAG and one WAG event. We also had 3 participants (Allie Sundeen, LeAnna Ung and Tessa Luzney) compete all ten events!

Tyler Thompson, a grad student, won the special team award titled "Debut Dynamo". This was his first gymnastics competition ever, and he got his kip on uneven bars a week before the meet and successfully competed it! He also got his kip on men's high bar at the meet!

We're extremely happy with how the team performed; everyone gave it their all and had fun! Thank you to everyone who was a part of this awesome meet! Thank you especially to the University of Minnesota Gymnastics Club for hosting and to everyone who came to support and cheer! We are now looking forward to our next meet, Flippin Illini, hosted by the University of Ilinois Urbana-Champaign gymnastics club!
